About Mark

Bottom-up, Stock-specific analysis, Industry background. Jefferies Oil Field Services research is known for its bottom-up approach to sector data (Global Subsea/Offshore Capex Tracker, Offshore Wind Turbine Tracker) as well as to individual stock drivers which has led to numerous non-consensual or early stock calls because of a sharp focus on the key drivers and risks in Oil Service specific investment cases. The foundation for this approach is Mark Wilson’s 10-year international career with Baker Hughes (Saudi, Holland, Norway, USA, UK), prior to what is now a 15yrs+ equity research career covering both Oilfield Service and International E&P.

What We Are Known For

  • Team resource, Sector commitment, Expanding coverage. While many Energy research teams have contracted in size or even exited the sector in recent years, Jefferies has consolidated its commitment & maintained industry experience in the analyst coverage. Jamie Franklin joined the team in 2018 following 6 years at Chevron & ConocoPhillips and has expanded sector coverage into OCTG (Vallourec, Tenaris) and Technip Energies, Maire and Offshore wind installers. Ruben Dewa has now expanded our OFS coverage into the Drilling sector with his initiation on ADNOC Drilling.
  • Energy Transition – Jefferies is the research team for Offshore Wind. Jefferies “Do You Wanna Build a Windfarm…” series of notes and annual Wind Contractor Summit, now in its 5th year, leads the market for offshore wind value chain research insight. Jamie’s monthly Offshore Wind – Tracking Turbines is a unique & innovative publication which uses publicly available location data to track activity of Offshore Wind Turbine Installation Vessels (WTIVs).  His coverage of turbine installation specialists Cadeler, Eneti & Seaway 7 before them has broadened sector coverage beyond conventional Oilfield Services to those with a key role in the Energy Transition.
